Sustainable Paint
23 May 2006
ICI Paints has won a major grant from the Technology Programme of the Department of Trade and Industry in the UK to develop decorative paints that generate demonstrably less waste in their production, use and end of life.
The project builds on a feasibility study carried out with Carillion Building, a major trade customer of ICI Paints, and Forum for the Future, a leading sustainable development charity in the UK, which has developed a novel streamlined lifecycle analysis tool that will be used to assess the sustainability of the new paint systems.
The full project is valued at ?2 million, with ICI Paints receiving a grant of ?750,000 for its part.
