ICI has reached an agreement to buy the Dulux business from South African corporation AECI for £52 million (R745 million) in cash. In addition to buying the Dulux assets in South Africa, ICI is acquiring AECI's shares in the Dulux subsidiaries in Botswana, Zambia, Swaziland, Malawi and Namibia.

6 April 2006: ICI has agreed to sell its Cimsec business, part of ICI Paints Europe, to Henkel for an undisclosed cash consideration. The value of the gross assets being divested is 13m Euro (9m GBP).

ICI is selling the non-core Cimsec tile adhesives and grouts business in order to focus on its core decorative paint brands in Central and Eastern Europe - including Xyladecor, Dulux, Meisterpreis, Molto and Hammerite.
4 April 2006: ICI is investing US$14 million in a new waterborne decorative paints plant in Vietnam. The facility is being constructed at My Phuoc II Industrial Park in Binh Duong Province near Ho Chi Minh City and is scheduled to be operational next year.

It is ICI's second paints manufacturing plant in Vietnam. ICI Paints has been operating in the country since 1996 through a joint venture, ICI Paints (Vietnam) Ltd, in Ho Chi Minh City.
7 February 2006: A programme by ICI Paints to help educate and inform its customers in the decorating trade in the UK and Ireland about safe working at heights has won the 2005 ICI Chairman's Leadership Award for Sustainability.

The annual award is part of the scheme that recognises innovative and outstanding projects by ICI sites around the world in the areas of safety, health, environment, product stewardship and community involvement.
